The first film to expose the Whale Shark slaughter in Indian waters. The film played a key role in ensuring their legal protection under India’s Wildlife Act and Global conservation recognition at CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).

6:00pm Walking lightly on the Planet: Learning from ecological traditions to build a sustainable future. Keynote address by Sunita Narain, leading environmental thinker, author, and policy advocate, widely recognized for her work on climate policy, sustainable development, water governance, and environmental justice. Environmentalism of the poor is distinct from the environmentalism of the middle-class as it builds on ecological diversity to secure sustainable futures; it teaches how frugality of resource use is about sufficiency and uses community-knowledge to live within Planetary boundaries. She will discuss how this knowledge must be incorporated into the future economy of our country and not remain at the margins.

7:15pm PuliKali (Play of The Tigers) A traditional folk art performance under the guidance of Master Vinod. Performers transform into tigers and leopards, painting their bodies in vivid yellows and reds, and dance to the pulsating rhythms of the "Chenda" and the "Chengillik". This 200-year-old art form from Kerala is traditionally performed during Onam, the harvest festival.

What is it about these great mountains that has made them an eternal theatre of the majestic and the sublime in equal measure? Why do people live here, why do seekers and pilgrims and the broken keep coming here, generation after generation, despite the hard terrain and often unforgiving environment?

Moderated by Prof. Pushpesh Pant, academic, author, columnist, TV anchor. Mother Earth not only nourishes its children but also heals them physically as well as emotionally when they are suffering. Forests are vast repositories of herbs and medicinal plants that build natural immunity, reinvigorate and rejuvenate. Different regions in our blessed land have evolved traditional systems of treatment to enhance the quality of life and experience the bliss of “Niramaya”.

The session concludes with a tribute marking 50 years of Mike Pandey’s journey as a pioneering environmental activist and filmmaker.

Performance by Mayukh Hazarika, nephew of the “Bard of the Brahmaputra”, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. A delectable mix of songs that gives an insight into Dr. Hazarika's musical philosophy, coupled with personal anecdotes and unknown stories about the origin of some of the legend’s iconic songs.
