Shores of Silence - Whales Sharks in India (Docu/ 2004/ English/ 24 mins) Dir. Mike Pandey. The film documents the mass slaughter of the Whale Shark, the largest fish on the planet, filmed for the first time in Indian waters, revealing tragic evidence of its killing. The film played a key role in bringing legislation in India, protecting the Whale Shark under the Wildlife Act, 1972, and later influencing global protection at the 2002 CITES meeting, leading to a landmark shift in conservation attitudes.
Looking for Sultan (Docu/ 2019/ English/ 43.29 mins) Dir. Doel Trivedy & Gautam Pandey. Produced by Riverbank Studios. The film follows the story of Sultan, a bold young male tiger who suddenly vanished from his natal home in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. Mike and Gautam Pandey, the father and son wildlife filmmaker duo who have filmed Sultan since he was a cub, try to piece together the puzzle of his disappearance. Through the tale of this one tiger, the film looks at some of the broader issues confronting tiger conservation in India–including poaching, habitat loss and increasing conflict with humans.
