IHC Lok Sangeet Sammelan. Tribal song & dance by The Durua, also known as the Dharua, an indigenous tribe primarily residing in the Koraput district of Odisha. They are recognized for their rich cultural heritage, which includes vibrant song and dance traditions that are integral to their community life. The dance form is called Birli dance accompanied with songs which reflect themes of nature, rituals, community bonding and their spiritual beliefs. The instruments include Dhol, Mohuri (traditional wind instrument), Turburi (percussion instrument), Kirkisa (a metallic body creating a hissing sound), Tassa (a wooden kettle drum). Followed by Dotara recital by Kangal Khyapa, a celebrated Baul musician steeped in the rich spiritual tradition of Bengal, accompanied by Dhol and Khol player Arvind Das from Joydev Kenduli. Exhibition on the musical heritage of Seraikela Kharsawan (Jharkhand) and Koraput (Odisha) in the foyer. Collab. banglanatak dot com.
