Written, Directed & Performed by Bhumika Dube. ‘Kela Jamunwali’ is the journey of an unusual young girl named Kela, who dreams of selling her Jamun fruit in the big city which she has very dedicatedly grown from her own beloved Jamun tree. Set in 1950’s India, Kela comes from a humble middle class family of an unassuming rural village that is plagued by patriarchal and orthodox religious traditions; some of which are prevalent even today. This one woman show will take you through Kela’s life story from her youth to old age, portrayed by a wide array of the fascinating characters in Kela’s life. The ups and downs of life and trying to move on with the trauma and grief that comes from loss, proving that sometimes, some loves are too significant to ever be forgotten. Prod.
