When her mother comes to India to visit the filmmaker in Auroville, a place once frequented by the family, their week-long stay together is shaped by a simultaneous distance, longing, and unspoken resonance.
Sour Candy / Anaar Daana (2024/ Hindi with English subtitles/ 20 mins) Dir. Nishi Dugar. Guddal, a free-spirited 5-year-old, lives in her ancestral home with her younger brother Laddoo, and older sister Chinu. A nanny (Aaya Didi) cares for them in the absence of their parents. The news of her ailing grandmother and the influx of relatives in her otherwise idyllic house leave her bewildered.

Rooted in personal memory and quiet reflection, this documentary follows a young woman returning home to engage in intimate conversations with her family. Through shared stories residing in family archives, she confronts the gendered expectations of her childhood, unspoken struggles with identity, and the quiet resilience passed down through generations.

Nothing Grows Under The Pine Trees (2024/ Garhwali with English subtitles/ 32 mins) Dir. Sachin Rana. Marriage begins to spoil the fates of two sisters as their family begins to arrange for one. From the hills of Uttarakhand comes this story of two sisters’ destiny tied to their society, a sliver of the ensuing saga of a people torn by prejudice disguised as tradition.
