Evitada: The Avoided Artwork – Art, Carbon Markets & Greenwashing by Spanish conceptual artist, Josep Piñol. He presents Evitada (the avoided artwork), a contemporary art project that turns the decision to forgo producing a large-scale installation into a critical gesture in response to the logics of the carbon market. Through performance, documentation, and storytelling, this “non-work” questions how value—economic, symbolic, and climatic—is assigned to what is done and to what is deliberately not done. The talk proposes a dialogue between artistic practice, political ecology, and the limits of greenwashing, opening up questions about responsibility, offsetting, and narrative in the climate crisis.
