Followed by screening of Bobby (Hindi/1973/169mins) Dir.Raj Kapoor Cast: Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia. Representing the film début for Dimple Kapadia and the first leading role for Raj Kapoor's son, Rishi Kapoor, the film came to be known as a trend-setter in its own right. It introduced in Bollywood the genre of teenage romance with a rich-vs-poor clash as a backdrop.

Based on the legendary Arabic story of the star-crossed lovers- Layla and Majnun, the film traces the real story of a young man called Qays ibn al-Mulawwah from the northern Arabian Peninsula. In one version, he spent his youth together with Layla, tending their flocks. In another version, upon seeing Layla he fell passionately in love with her. In both versions however, he went mad when her father prevented him from marrying her; for which reason he came to be called Majnun Layla... "Layla's Lunatic".

    India Habitat Centre introduces photography workshop conducted by art-photographer Achal Kumar. Winner of National Academy Award, 1997, instituted by the Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi, Kumar trained under photographers like S. Paul, the Late T. Kashinath, and his father Santosh.
