Writing on Photography - How might one approach the critical practice of writing about and evaluating photography? To what extent is this genre different from that of writing on sculpture, painting or the other visual or conceptual arts? Are there formative contributions by critics and practitioners that might assist in this process of writing about recent and contemporary photographic practice?
This day long, discursive and participative workshop will explore some of the issues, theories, approaches and terminology which might assist in an understanding of this area.
It will be led by Dr Grant Pooke FHEA, a respected art historian, educator and Senior Lecturer at the University of Kent, UK, who has extensive experience of writing and publishing on the contemporary visual arts.
This workshop is part of our India Habitat Centre Photosphere festival, one of the aims of which is to educate through the arts.
